The district has a large and complex dress policy that is linked below if you would like to review it. Their “rule of thumb” is as follows: Any clothing, makeup, hairstyle or wig that has been demonstrated to contribute to the substantial disruption of the orderly operation of the school is inappropriate / unacceptable for school attire. Here is a summary of some of the items deemed unacceptable at Highland:
-
Unnaturally colored hair, extremely tall Mohawk hairdos
-
Undergarments showing
-
Pants must fit at the hip so they will stay on without a belt.
-
Footwear must be worn at all times and have hard soles. (Tennis shoes are appropriate/ acceptable, soft-soled slippers are
unacceptable).
-
Sandals must have heel straps, no “flip flops.”
There are certain special days where some of these policies are modified, but those are always published in advance and will show up on our website, the marquee or in other forms of communication.
If you would like to review the whole policy you can access it here.
